Our Process
Every great part starts with a clear design. At IA-FAB, our engineering process focuses on collaboration and manufacturability from day one. We review your drawings, identify cost-saving opportunities, and refine your design for accuracy and efficiency. The goal is simple: shorten lead times, reduce revisions, and ensure your parts are production-ready the first time.

Design & Engineering FAQs
Here are a few of the questions we’re most often asked about our design and engineering support. From NDAs to file types and review times, this section covers the essentials of how we work and how to get your drawings production-ready.
-
We accept most common CAD formats including PDF, DXF, DWG, STEP, and IGES. For fabrication, 2D profiles (DXF/DWG) and 3D solids (STEP/IGES) are ideal. Clean, dimensioned files help us deliver accurate DFM feedback and precise quotes.
-
Absolutely. We handle proprietary designs and confidential client data every day. If you’d like to protect your files before sharing them, simply send over your NDA and we’ll sign it before reviewing any drawings.
-
Yes. We frequently advise clients on material grades, thicknesses, and surface finishes based on strength, weight, corrosion resistance, and cost. Our goal is to balance performance and manufacturability so your part functions as intended and stays within budget.
-
Most DFM reviews are completed within 1–3 business days, depending on complexity and the number of parts. We’ll provide a timeline as soon as we receive your files. Urgent projects can usually be prioritized on request.
